Wendy works as one of our amazing and dedicated team members at Anglicare’s The Donald Coburn Centre. Wendy has cared for many of our residents over her 10 years with Anglicare and even though she has been with Anglicare for this period of time she always comes to work full of enthusiasm and passion for her job – every day she works as if it is her first day! English is Wendy’s second language and this has never hindered Wendy from communicating with our residents. Some of our residents struggle with dementia and at times will demonstrate aggressive behaviours, Wendy is always able to gain their trust with her kind and calming nature and works extremely well managing residents in these times always making sure that their hygiene is well maintained, that they eat well and that they are safe. Our registered nurses always comment that they feel their shifts are a lot less heavy when they know that Wendy is there to support them. Nothing is ever any trouble for Wendy, when she is asked to collect a urine sample she is the first to collect it promptly and as a carer she will immediately report important clinical matters that she notices from a resident if they show any signs at all of deteriorating. Wendy works hard and excels in what she does and does so without seeking any recognition or reward., Wendy exhibits Anglicare’s values of integrity, justice, compassion and excellence every single day and is an exceptional member of our care staff team. Wendy is someone that is a role model to the younger generation of staff.
