Troy Lawlor is Feros Care’s unsung hero, passionate about facilitating an inclusive and diverse workplace where employees do not have to choose between their livelihood and their authentic self.
Joining Feros nearly 5 years ago as Training Facilitator and Assessor, Troy quickly became a leader in the Pride Support Network, a group open to all staff and focused on supporting members of the LGBTQIA+ community either as an employee or a client.
With some traction on their work fading under the shadow of Covid-19, Troy revitalised efforts upon becoming Chairperson in February 2022 to host a spectacular Pride Parade in June and is working tirelessly towards Feros achieving Rainbow Tick Accreditation. Under Troy’s guidance, a self-audit to ascertain readiness is 90% complete.
Other initiatives Troy has been instrumental in implementing include an Intranet Tile to easily connect staff to links and resources relevant to the LGBTQIA+ community. Troy also supports colleagues on a personal level. A remote aged care support worker reached out to Troy seeking advice on navigating care provision to clients openly unsupportive of the LGBTQIA+ community. Troy provided resources and follow-up support and assisted his colleague to feel safe and supported in navigating this situation.
