Lesley goes beyond and above to support her clients. An example of Lesley’s commitment and advocacy for her clients was when she worked as an Aboriginal Service Provider, supporting an Aboriginal Elder from a remote community.
Whilst the client was receiving dialysis, Lesley arranged transport for the client -to and from the facility. In addition, Lesley ensured the client had an interpreter that allowed for a mutual comprehension of her ongoing medical treatment, allowing the client to participate actively in her care plan.
Going beyond her duty of care, Lesley ensured the client had clean towels and clothing at each visit – towels and clothes were washed and dried at the RDNS Silverchain site, ready for a care worker to collect on the way to the visit. Lesley also ensured that the client had warm clothes, bedding and food by seeking donation funding.
When the client could no longer stay at home, Lesley supported the client, family and aged care facilities staff with transitioning the client into an appropriate aged care facility.
