Joshua Lamberth

Skye Harvey Unsung Heroes – Individual

Southern Cross Care (NSW & ACT)

Joshua has only been working at St Catherine’s in Grafton for less than 6 months as the Maintenance Officer, but he performs his role with confidence, going above and beyond expectations.

Peter, who is confined to a wheelchair after having had a stroke and cognitive disability, was withdrawing, and not engaging in any social interactions, but that all changed when Josh joined and the two struck up a friendship. Peter is now thriving, with renewed purpose and engages in individualised meaningful interactions.

Initially Peter asked Josh to help him create a modified French knitting box, as without modification, he was unable to participate in the activity due to the fine motor capabilities.

Today, they have multiple projects underway including building a wooden crafted chair for Peter’s room. Josh even organised to take Peter to Bunning’s with the support of care staff to gather the required equipment for the project, so Peter was a part of the entire project.

Josh is also the first one to jump in and help his team wherever he can to support without being asked.

Josh’s kind nature has had a positive impact on many residents. He truly embodies the HEART values of SCC.
