The Saucy Silvers Program is run primarily by Anglicare SQ’s Community Aged Care team member Gina Campion, in Toowoomba with the assistance of Dietitian, Sharon Clark. Gina saw a gap in service delivery and has worked tirelessly in setting up the program, partnering with St Luke’s Anglican Church Toowoomba and encouraging sceptical staff and clients.

The program is is based off the Australian Government Department of Veterans Affairs ‘Cooking for One or Two’ program, designed for Veteran males living in the community over 65 years who live alone or cook for one or two people. The program has now been expanded to enable any community group, individual, or organisation to run and deliver the program across the Australian population.
According to the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP), under-nutrition is common among the elderly in the community, with an estimated 10–44% of older people being at risk. It often remains unrecognised and under-managed. Gina’s program aims to combat this through a mix of education and specially designed cooking classes.
