Skye Harvey Acts of Kindness – Individual

Organisation:

Bay & Basin Community Resources

Recently an in-home client wrote to Bay & Basin Community Resources to express her gratitude for Community Care Worker Fiona Bellis, who not only supports her to live independently in her own home, but whose empathy also eases her struggles with mental health.
The client spoke of Fiona’s wonderful attitude and how Fiona’s kindness and understanding aided her recovery. She said that Fiona treated her in a way that meant she never felt embarrassed about having episodes of being unwell.
Having supported this client for some time, Fiona could see that the changes in routine, stress and isolation brought on by the COVID lockdown was impacting this client’s mental health. She alerted the BBCR team and helped develop strategies for further support, regularly checked in with phone calls and made sure there was always time for cups of tea and talking during her visits. Through Fiona’s repeated acts of kindness, this client was able to cope with the challenges of lockdown.
Everyone at BBCR would like to recognise Fiona for making a difference in not only of the life of this client but every other client she supports, she is a highly valued member of our care team.
