Darren Gray

Skye Harvey Unsung Heroes – Individual

Dorothy Impey Home

During our experience with COVID19 Darren cared for our residents who have dementia . He worked in full PPE and made sure they were safe and well cared for.
One resident on another floor got very aggressive and would not stay confined to his room. Darren took him for walks in the garden to help him settle. He gave our residents a normal life under COVID restrictions. He was a great support to our nurses and carers. It was not a
9am to 5pm situation. He left when he knew our residents were o.k.. Darren helps when there is an emergency and staff need extra help.
I get phone calls all the time “is Darren there” Yesterday it was Mother’s Day and he volunteered to ensure a smooth process of residents going out and visitors coming in to visit their mothers. He does the Rapid Antigen Testing and many, many times volunteers at the weekend to do the testing so residents can have visitors.
He ensures the PPE supply is always in place so that staff feel confident knowing that everything they need in a hurry is there for them.
I would like to present our Unsung Hero.
