Skye Harvey Acts of Kindness – Individual

Umbrella Multicultural Community Care Services

Dan has worked for Umbrella since 2006 and is one of our longest serving staff members! He is popular and well regarded by his colleagues and clients who attend Umbrella’s Golden Age Club and social support programs. For Dan, it is Umbrella’s clients and his co-workers who keep him here! His motto is to help others and to be kind and caring. He especially loves chatting with clients and, as one of Umbrella’s bus drivers, taking clients on outings. He knows how much they look forward to these outings and being able to visit lots of different places.
Dan decided he wanted to work with older people many years ago, when he was recovering from surgery and often saw a group of seniors doing exercises at the local swimming pool. He then came across a brochure looking for volunteers to transport seniors and later found his way to Umbrella. He has never looked back! During his time with Umbrella Dan has learnt Polish words and phrases, like greetings and numbers (great for bingo!). His greatest wish is for Umbrella to find a ‘forever home,’ a building that Umbrella owns. Thanks for being part of the Umbrella family, Dan!
