Brett Gray is Feros Care’s humble hero from our Wommin Bay Residential Aged Care Village, Kingscliff. His calm, considered approach to crisis saved lives, kept our staff and residents fed, comfortable and safe, even ensuring a continued supply of chocolate and caffeine throughout the Northern Rivers floods devastating the region.
Even before flood waters crossed the border, Brett applied almost 30years of Fire Rescue experience, strong local road knowledge, local emergency connections and detailed knowledge of Feros’ 3 Residential aged care facilities to keep them running safely. Planning ahead for contingences, Brett increased food supplies, rolled-up his sleeves in doing the laundry and reviewed essential staff rosters to ensure coverage, even safely collecting a nurse for Wommin village prior to her shift due to rising flood waters.
Brett safely ferried staff and supplies in and out ensuring there was sufficient food, gas and laundry supply to keep the Village operating. Thoughtful of the anxiety of staff and residents, Brett purchased battery lights, so no-one was left in the dark when power cut off and only generator run essential lighting was on. Brett’s selfless leadership as Home Accommodation Manager facilitated a united team dedicated to ensuring quality care of residents.
