Angie Davies is Feros Care’s Unsung Hero, responding to an SOS call for emergency support during COVID-19 in early 2022.
A Community-based Aged Care Wellbeing Manager with Feros in Darling Downs Queensland, Angie provides support to seniors.
Angie saw an urgent SOS for Registered Nurses to provide support to our Northern NSW Residential Aged Care Facilities experiencing staff shortages due to COVID. Without hesitation, she answered the call, packed a bag, grabbed her theatre scrubs and trainers and made the 3-hour trip south to fill an overnight RN shift at Wommin Bay Village, Kingscliff and relieve on-site Management who were completely exhausted.
Angie, an experienced RN with Infection Control Lead qualifications, had the residential aged care experience and expertise to hit the ground running. After 3 weeks of relief support, Angie was seconded for a month as Relieving Manager – enabling Management a well-deserved rest.
Angie led the tweaking of Care and Behaviour Management Plans easing the stress of lockdown and addressing the toll that isolation, disconnection and unfamiliarity of relief staff can create in residents.
Angie went above and beyond, epitomising Feros’ Value: Kindness Warrior; and is a hero to all staff and residents she supported through this critical time.
