Opening Doors – Unlocking Innovative Change
Trying new things is hard at the best of times. It can feel almost impossible when you’re already overwhelmed, overworked, and underpaid. Sisters Lucy Byrne and Penny Terry have plenty of experience doing things differently. Not only is it the premise of their company Healthy Tasmania, but they’ve made a business out of it; supporting their clients to find new ways and try new things to solve long-standing problems. Lucy and Penny share what they know about the feelings, the mindset and the process of innovating while trying to help some of the most vulnerable people in our communities.
Lucy Byrne, Managing Director
& Penny Terry, Creative Director – Healthy Tasmania
Sisters Lucy Byrne and Penny Terry do things differently, to get things done. After two very separate careers, (and over a glass of wine), they founded their multi-award-winning business Healthy Tasmania to solve common problems that often prevent communities and organisations from thriving. Lucy is best known for solving complex problems in their local context, using her sharp strategic capabilities refined after a career working across the government, health and community sectors. Penny spent 10 years as an ABC radio presenter and is an expert in using community-led storytelling to create buy-in, understanding and lead successful change. Free from the bureaucratic processes and risk-adverse environments (often placed on their clients), they have the space to think strategically and creatively to develop, implement and evaluate purpose-build process’ to get things done, the best way. Together they support a range of organisations to create the change know they want, but don’t know how to achieve.
